What is Care & Protect?
How does Tado° fault detection work?
Care & Protect constantly monitors the status of the heating system in order to provide information (via the Tado° app) on its use and help identify any malfunctions and breakdowns.

Add the details of your heating system from the app (specifying the type of system such as underfloor heating and/or boiler) so that the Tado° app can provide a more suitable response to the type of your system.

To add details about your heating system, select Settings > Care & Protect , in the Tado° app .
Fault detection and activity through Care & Protect?
Care & Protect has two main features:
Tado° fault detection
Tado° constantly monitors the heating system for possible malfunctions. To do this, it considers several factors including the internal temperature of each room, the Smart Schedule and if open windows are detected.
In case of abnormal behavior, you will receive a notification from the Tado° app to help you identify and fix the problem. The goal is to detect anomalies in the bud trying to avoid any costly repairs.
Fault Detection works with all boilers and interfaces, but it is not guaranteed that it will detect all types of faults. For example, the Tado° app will not show bus interface errors of digitally connected boilers (e.g. related to a faulty pump).
System status messages
When Fault Detection is active, the following states are possible:

- No faults detected. Everything works fine in the tado° system.
- “Fault” detected. When tado° detects unusual behavior in heating activity for a specific room.
- No NEW faults detected. If a fault was recently detected, we tell you how long it has been since it occurred.
Disabling Fault Detection
To disable Fault Detection, simply follow these steps in the phone app :

- select “ Off ” on Fault Detection

You can keep Fault Detection active but disable push notifications by following these steps in the phone app :

- Go to Settings > Notifications , then

select “ Off ” on Fault Detection

DIY Repair Guide
If you have Auto-Assist and a boiler , when you receive an anomaly notification, you can solve the problem yourself with a step-by-step guide.
Alternatively you will be redirected to a professional technician who can provide support.
If you know the cause of the problem, such as ongoing maintenance on your boiler, you can inform tado° or choose to ignore the issue.
Heating activity
If you have Auto-Assist , you can also get an overview of your home's total heating usage in the Heating activity section. The main screen shows the total heating duration of the day, which rooms are currently heated and by what percentage.
The report indicates:

- The average daily usage in heating hours.
- A graph with your Home Heating Activity on a daily/monthly basis. You can scroll the graph to view and compare previous reports on Heating Activity; you can also select a single bar of the chart for more detail.
- The total Heating Duration for the relevant period.
- A comparison between the current usage period and the previous 30 days/12 months.
- Heating activity per room based on how long each room has been heated over the period of interest.

Control Tado° remotely using the Tado° app on your smartphone. Set customized schedules and receive reports and advice on how to heat more efficiently to save energy. View all rooms controlled by Tado° in the app. "Care and Protect" constantly monitors your heating system, notifies you of anomalous behavior and helps you resolve any malfunctions yourself.
