Internet of Things - How it works and what are its applications
What is the Internet of Things?
With IoT (Internet of Things/Internet of things) we mean the connection of physical devices through the Internet (sensors, actuators, appliances, wearables and many others).
Through the internet they can autonomously collect, process and exchange data with the aim of creating a more connected living environment, in which objects and systems are able to interact with each other by automating and simplifying daily processes.
What is the Internet of Things for?
The Internet of Things serves to automate processes and habits in order to improve the quality of life. In fact, automation and efficiency are the basis of everything and the Internet of Things is mainly used for home automation and security. In industrial plants, on the other hand, it has made it possible to improve processes and make production more efficient.
IoT has the potential to revolutionize several industries (health, logistics, manufacturing, security and energy), improving efficiency and productivity. However, IoT also raises some concerns regarding the security and privacy of data collected by connected objects.
Are IoT devices safe?
Security is a major concern when it comes to internet-connected devices. IoT device manufacturers use data encryption and regular testing and updates. IoT device owners can use strong and unique passwords, limit network access to only necessary devices, and regular update of IoT device firmware.
