Helmet for electric scooters: does it become compulsory?

Helmet for electric scooters: will it become compulsory? For the time being, no law has been passed to change the Highway Code to make helmets compulsory for all electric vehicles such as scooters and e-bikes, but the debate in Parliament is heated and the issue will soon be on the tables of the House and Senate. In the meantime, the mayors of the municipalities most sensitive to the issue of mobility are issuing ordinances on the subject and taking individual initiatives, as was the case with the municipalities of Florence, Sesto San Giovanni and Bari, where helmets are already compulsory.

Helmet for electric scooters: does it become compulsory?

If, as you may have guessed, the use of a helmet for scooters is not yet compulsory, but will soon become so, our suggestion is always to think about buying a product that can no longer be considered a simple accessory. This is because, ever since green mobility vehicles such as electric scooters appeared on Italian roads, they have become de facto protagonists and are unfortunately often at the centre of the news.

Therefore, in addition to the choice of an excellent electric scooter, such as the top model in the Monorim range: Monorim - T3S Pro+, we also call for good use of the vehicle in order to be sure of travelling safely. An electric scooter is in fact subject to 5 basic rules which must be respected to avoid causing damage to yourself or other people:

  • An electric scooter can circulate freely at the edge of the road if it does not have a motor with a power rating of more than 500 watts;
  • Electric scooters are approved only and exclusively if they are ridden standing up and therefore do not have a seat;
  • While riding the scooter, it is forbidden to carry rucksacks, bags or other bulky objects attached to the handlebars;
  • Although scooters are not subject to insurance because they do not have number plates, if they circulate on the road they must scrupulously comply with the rules of the Highway Code;
  • The electric scooter, according to the law, is equivalent to a velocipede, so it is subject to sanctions if it goes against the rules of the Highway Code.

Electric scooter helmet: choosing the right model

A good helmet for your scooter is comparable to a bicycle helmet and also similar to helmets used for skiing. Among the models we suggest you buy are the Monorim helmet, or the Monorim helmet with environmentally adjustable rear LED lights, which have the following characteristics:

  • Lightweight helmet, but of robust construction and resistant to knocks and falls;
  • Modern and ergonomic design that adapts to the profile of your face;
  • Ventilation holes to allow good ventilation in the warmer months;
  • Rear LED lights (as in our model with lights).

When you choose one of our electric scooter helmets, you can also be sure that you will have all the pre- and after-sales assistance of our qualified staff at your disposal, in the meantime: have a good ride!
